The Watch Finder Tool

After weeks of brainstorming and development, I am finally able to present to you: The Personal Watch Advisor Tool. Man, it feels good to finally say it!

But what exactly is it?

Basically, the Tool, which I developed acts as a Watch Finder. Now, maybe you have seen such a tool already in online shops, where you answer a few questions and get a recommended product list. I always loved the idea, but I was always disappointed with the results since the online shop wants you to sell their stuff and for that reason dump their recommendations on to you. Also, usually there are only a few products in the algorithm and sometimes they recommend the same products, even when you answered the questions completely different. In short, the tool is only there to sell you stuff and doesn’t feel personalized at all.

So, what I did, was I developed a tool, which you can find here and in the main navigation of the website. The tool, based on your preferences, gives you a personalized list of potential watches that you may like. The benefit behind my tool is, that I won’t sell you anything, so you have an unbiased list of recommendations. Also, there already are over 150 watches in the system, from which the tool chooses to display you the best options. And the best thing is, there are many more options to come, so please contact me here if your favorite watch is missing.

But now you may be asking, what let me to this idea? Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? It all started when more and more of my friends and family realized that I have a certain know-how about the world of watches and would ask me what watch they should get for themselves or for a friend or family member. Usually, I will then proceed to ask them a certain set of questions like what’s your budget? Or how should the watch fit? And so on, you get the point. And that’s when it hit me. Why not make this into an automated tool, which everyone ranging from complete watch novices to absolute watch nerds can have their fun and find their perfect watch. So, a few days after I got the idea, I started to work on it. And now, after a lot of work, I’m finally able to publish it on horologisto.com.

How does it work?

Now that you’ve learned more about the idea behind the tool, here is some additional information on how it works. First, it’s 100% free to use for you and your friends. You don’t have to sign up or anything, just head over to the entry site, on which you can start the process. I always thought that having to sign up for something like that is very annoying and a bad user experience. Also, because of that, you will not have to sign up for an email list before you see the results.

The only way I’m profiting from this is from the clicks you generate on the website. This will allow me to grow my website and this whole project and provide you with more cool content. So, if you like my work and the tool, please share it with your friends or post it on to your social media (I will repost every post and story on the website’s official Instagram account: @horologisto_).

Let’s assume you are about to start the tool. What should you expect?

When you first open the page, you will have to answer a few short questions, which will determine what questions will come next and, in the end, what watches you will get in your recommended list. Once you reached the results page, you will get anywhere between 3 and 5 good and personalized recommendations. On each watch teaser, you will find a button, which leads you to the manufacture website, on which you can get more specifications and order the watch if you feel like it. And again, the watches on the list are there because I like them and because the tool thinks it’s a good fit for your style and not because someone paid me for a spot.

So, now that you know everything about the tool, there is only one thing left to do. Go and click yourself through the process and enjoy it! Enjoy it and give me some feedback if you like, I would appreciate, since I put a lot of effort into it. And the next time when someone asks you what watch they should get, maybe send them the link to the tool and let them find out by themselves.
